Cycloidal Reducer Gearbox

A cycloidal reducer gearbox (also known as a cycloidal drive or cyclo drive) is a precision speed reduction mechanism that uses a unique cycloidal disc motion to achieve high torque, compact size, and excellent shock load resistance. It is widely used in robotics, industrial automation, aerospace, and medical equipment.

 

How a Cycloidal Reducer Works

Input Stage: A high-speed input shaft rotates an eccentric cam (or eccentric bearing).

 

Cycloidal Disc: The cam causes a cycloidal disc (with lobes) to perform an eccentric, wobbling motion.

 

Interaction with Pins: The disc's lobes engage with stationary pins (mounted on the housing) and output pins (connected to the output shaft).

 

Speed Reduction: For each full rotation of the input shaft, the cycloidal disc advances by one lobe, resulting in a high reduction ratio (often 10:1 to 100:1+).
